Miracle Thailand to the rescue
The Tourism and Sports Ministry will kick off its “Miracle Thailand Year” campaign in April after postponing it from last month due to the massive flooding.

ministry, 4.8 billion baht to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and the rest to other state agencies.
The TAT will handle most of the promotion for a campaign aimed at celebrating the His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday last month.
All tourism activities will use the word “miracle” in the title.
The ministry will extend the organising periods and coverage areas of major festivals. For example, the Songkran festival promotion may be extended to one month from only 3-5 days to spur tourism. “We plan to promote monthly activities from April to December too,” said Tourism Minister Chumpol Silpa-archa.
Susdivarchr Cheewarattanaporn, president of the Association of Thai Travel Agents, said the miracle campaign is a good idea, but it is only a short promotion with a large budget.
The ministry should have a three- to five-year plan to maintain leadership of tourism in Asean when the Asean Economic Community takes effect in 2015, he added.
